So I was on a podcast!
Tune in for my wild brain tumor story from car accidental discovery to surgery and recovery. We also talk adult ADHD and how to be your own health advocate.
At the beginning of February, I was a guest on my dear friend Dominique’s podcast, This is Fine! and the episode is now live. Listen to it on Spotify (linked below) or Apple podcasts.
This episode is near and dear to my heart because A) it is the first time I’ve ever guested on a pod and B) said pod’s creator is a very special human to me. I’ll admit I shed a few tears in my car while listening to my story told back to me (and a few more because her intro was beyond kind).
If you enjoy what you hear (beyond just my voice), please give the host Dominique some love and check out her other episodes. She has one of my favorite radio voices of all time (so soothing and melodic) and the beautiful ability to infuse our stories of crisis with a touch of levity, without discounting our experiences — something I think we could all learn from.
Because at the end of the day, we are not defined by our diagnoses. Happy listening!
Episode recap, copied from her show notes:
“Accidentally finding a brain tumor on the way to Harry Potter World” wasn’t on Avery Bredesen’s 2022 bingo card, but her world (real world, not wizarding) got rocked this past September.
Avery shares her too-crazy-to-make-up story with Dominique in this special edition of Trauma Hour, including her road to recovery post-brain surgery, and her experience with getting diagnosed with ADHD as an adult (which is more common for women than you’d think!).
If you've ever wondered what it's like to get brain surgery, or are looking for some morsels of life advice from someone who has, this episode's for you. AND, if you’ve been questioning potential ADHD symptoms — especially if you’re a woman! — you won’t want to miss that segment.
